How to read an essay question, think at a conceptual level, argue with balance, write in a measured voice and handle abstract questions.

  1. I can weigh an issue in Singapore and the wider world and explain what it means for people and society.

  7. I can choose one of eight essay questions wisely and plan a 500 to 800 word answer.
