Understand mitigation and adaptation, compare climate risks and choose measures that fit a community.
- Mitigation, adaptation and development
Mitigation limits future climate change. Adaptation reduces its harm. Effective climate action also protects livelihoods and shares costs fairly.
- Hazard, exposure and vulnerability
Risk depends on the hazard, the people or assets in its path, and how easily they can be harmed.
- Energy and emission reductions
Cleaner energy, greater efficiency and lower demand work together to reduce total emissions.
- Climate policy and cooperation
International agreements need national action and practical everyday choices to turn promises into lower emissions.
- Carbon stores and sinks
Protecting carbon stores prevents releases. Restoring ecosystems can remove more carbon, but the gains take time and can be lost.
- Flood, water and food adaptation
Adaptation measures tackle different parts of a problem. Combine them to fit local risks, resources and future conditions.
- Warnings, policy and resilience
People need usable warnings, safe options and resources to act. Good planning and cooperation make adaptation work.
